All surgery affecting the skin leaves a scar. An ideal scar is a fine, flat line, hidden by the normal anatomic shadows on your face, or by a skin crease. The worst type of scar that can develop is called keloid; it can be improved but often recurs.

Dr Anton Brewis advocates the use of RégimA scar cream, avoiding the sun, and massaging scars with tissue oil for most wounds. Applying silicone sheets or gels for six months following surgery can be beneficial.
