Birthmarks can be in the form of congenital nevus, capillary malformations, or haemangioma.

Babies born with certain skin conditions may have an increased risk of developing skin cancer such as giant congenital melanocytic nevus. Congenital skin abnormalities, such as capillary malformations or port-wine stains, may be symptomatic of an underlying syndrome.
